While the purchase of Twitter gives hope to conservatives disgusted by Big Tech’s blatant discrimination against them, Jake Evans said today that Congress must do more to safeguard free speech and hold these powerful companies to account for their anti-competitive actions.
“As a conservative, I believe in free speech and the free market, but today, Big Tech firms run by leftists control our society’s major speech platforms and have used that power to cancel conservatives,” Jake said. “We have seen the results of allowing Silicon Valley leftists to determine arbitrarily what is ‘hate speech’ and ‘misinformation,’ and what we have is one-sided, ideologically driven censorship. They have turned our American marketplace of ideas into a North Korean grocery store – no choices, limited supply and stale products.”
Jake said he would prioritize this issue in Congress, where skilled America First attorneys are sorely needed.
“I do not believe that ‘big’ is always ‘bad,’ but monopolies hurt consumers, censorship hurts America and bias targets conservatives only. When Big Tech decided that American voters couldn’t see stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop – stories labeled as misinformation that were proven true – they undermined American democracy. Too much is at stake to let this pattern continue, and as a member of Congress, I will hold them accountable.”
